Meet Platinum: Shelley Wenzel

This post is part of a series to help you get to know the members of our team. We’re real people who call Arizona home, not a big corporate machine!

Shelley Wenzel

Account Manager

Tell us a bit about your personal background and family.

I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio where my family and a lot of great friends still reside. After attending The University of Cincinnati — Go Bearcats! — I started my sales career with Mercedes-Benz. While working there, I would come out to Scottsdale every year for vacation, until I dawned on me that I had it all backwards — I should live in Scottsdale and maybe go back to Cincy to visit, so here I am.

What has your career been like?

Starting my sales career with Mercedes-Benz set the bar pretty high. Having a great mentor there really prepared me for the other opportunities I have had over the years and taught me what qualities to look for in an organization. Having met the amazing leadership team and the team at Platinum made my latest decision a no brainer. Helping people and providing an amazing product is extremely important to me, so I am very fortunate to be able to do both.

What are your hobbies?

Wow! Where do I start? Well, I love animals, so I have a rescue dog named Fred and a rescue horse named Pretty. Spending time with them is very special and rewarding to me. Having been an athlete my entire life, I love soccer, golf, paddleboarding, hiking, biking — pretty much anything outside. I hold an executive position and volunteer for VETPAW – Veterans Empowered To Protect African Wildlife.  VETPAW is a group of post 9/11 US veterans with combat skills who are committed to protecting and training Park Rangers to combat poaching on the ground in Africa.

What have you learned that you would love to share?

This may sound like a cliché but I believe that it is important to do what is right, not what is easy.

What does “home” mean to you?

Aside from providing protection from the external world, to me, a home is a place of pride comfort, inspiration, and family.
